Commemorative Golden coin for the 375° Anniversary of the birth of Sir Isaac Newton, one of the greatest scientist of all time and Master
of the Mint for several important years.
The design shows Isaac Newton’s portrait alongside some references to the Quarter Guinea issued in 1718 and to the Universal law of Gravitation.
The coin also commemorates the 300th year since the British adoption of the Gold Standard, a movement in which Newton played a significant role.
